Today, it provides an excellent opportunity for a highly astute communication strategist to build mindshare, trust & relationships with relevant stakeholders as well as provide communication solutions for steady-state or crisis scenarios to positively & consistently profile the Company.
Key Responsibilities
You will contribute as a strategic management partner by formulating, planning, reviewing and implementing the Company’s overall communication strategy map cum framework, in mid and long terms, so as to increase the capacity of the organisation and key personnel to build press/media relations, public relations and partners’ relations. Key responsibilities include directing & reviewing the corporate style, positioning & overarching messages for a more focused strategic image and reputation management as well as monitoring the press/media relations framework with focus on Strategic Information Release, Profile Management, Daily Media Queries Management, Issues Management, Crisis communication, Risk Communication & Media Monitoring and Analysis. To build mind share, trust and relationships with the media, you will direct and supervise comprehensive communication strategies and action plans for the Company’s and the groups’ issues & policy announcements, contribute to risk management by establishing and surfacing potential risk areas, sensitive issues and public health concerns, direct and supervise media management ensuring that all media requests are promptly attended to and effectively managed, supervise the monitoring of major local and foreign news and happenings so as to proactively surface and address issues as well as maintain dialogues and foster good relationships with key internal stakeholders within the groups and service partners. With the public, you will develop public/consumer education and public engagement strategies into integrated plans and initiatives, collaborate with partners in the professional groups to identify issues of public concerns and develop content for public outreach as well as lead in the formulation and execution of the public/consumer education campaign from definition of job specifications, project management to post-campaign evaluations. You will also need to build networks with media owners and advertising agencies to keep abreast of the latest social marketing tools. In addition, as part of the brand building journey, you will direct, plan, formulate and review marketing communications initiatives/ projects, corporate literature and collaterals development as well as best practices in order to positively portray and profile the Company, its capabilities and achievements, products and services as well as people and activities.
Skills Requirements
You should have tertiary qualifications in Arts and Social Sciences, Mass Communications and/or Basic Sciences, with at least 10 years of direct experience in the full spectrum of strategic corporate communications and planning, public and media relations, public/consumer education, issues management, reputation management, crisis communications, corporate branding, marketing communications, events management and image projection. You are a strategic planner with extensive experience and in-depth knowledge in communication disciplines as well as good appreciation of organisational development and management. Experience working in government-linked organisations is preferred, but not a prerequisite.
Person Requirements
You must be a natural communicator with excellent written and spoken communication skills, as well as strong emotional quotient. You are a self-starter with drive & passion for public service and also a standards bearer of good communication practices as well as a clear & focused thinker with the ability to capitalise on communication opportunities in the midst of complex environments. You also have a strong eye for efficacious & creative concepts/designs.
